Saskatchewan BMX community getting boost from first ever provincial team
Diamond BMX is proud to announce that we have once again partnered with Kiran Kawa from On the Box Clinics to develop a specialized Team for the 2022 season!!!
The team will include 10 members of Diamond BMX and be coached by Kiran Kawa & Niall Schofield. Kiran Kawa is the coach behind On The Box Clinics. He has raced competitively for over a decade, and has coached a wide variety of athletes for the past 8 years – coaching many to national finishing titles. Kiran has his Bachelors of Education degree, is the head coach of Stony Plain BMX, and the YEG BMX high performance coach. Kiran and Coach Niall Schofield developed the Diamond BMX team last year and the results gained were tremendous with all athletes improving their overall times and skill levels. The team shaved over 1 minute off their total lap time, and there were 4 top 8 National finishes amongst Team members. Kiran is ECSTATIC to bring his BMX knowledge back to Warman and have our race-team athletes CRUSH their goals!
Updates have been made to the Diamond BMX Team which will include an extra membership fee of $200 + cost of jersey/pants, an updated team contract to be signed by both parent and rider, and a fundraising initiative (fees may be reduced with fundraising/sponsorship). Joining the Diamond BMX team allows for significant skill development through specialized coaching which includes individual rider diagnostics, tailored practices and training tips, and video analysis. 2021 marked the development of the Diamond BMX Team and was paid for entirely through sponsorship. As our club has grown and large developments are taking place in preparation to host the Canada Cup, costs for the Team have been added.
Team Members will also be offered travel options to Alberta BMX tracks. Travel will be at an additional expense but Diamond BMX does have a team bus and trailer for transport plus reduced hotel fees. There may be additional perks provided as the season and sponsorship progresses.
Team Practice will be on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00pm. Members can also attend regular practice on Monday’s to help mentor younger riders and gain extra practice time.
Tryouts for the Diamond BMX Team will be held on May 28th for riders 7+. Cost is $30 which can be sent via etransfer to diamondbmxclubinc@gmail.com. To register, visit https://diamondbmx.volunteerlocal.com
